The piece explores how menstrual blood could be used to transform healthcare, highlighting the growing field of menstrual-blood-based diagnostics. It features the work of several pioneering research teams and companies, including theblood, our Berlin-based femtech startup, and how we’re developing menstrual blood tests that could provide health insights related to hormones, fertility, inflammation, and more.

For us, being included in this article means a lot. Since founding theblood, our goal has been to show that menstrual blood is not waste but a valuable and underused biological sample with the potential to change how women access healthcare. Seeing this conversation reach a global platform like The Guardian is both encouraging and a reminder of why this work matters.

We’ll continue building the scientific foundation needed to make menstrual blood testing part of everyday healthcare, and we’re grateful for every opportunity to help change the way people think about menstruation, research, and women’s health.
